Welcome to this week’s school newsletter! What a busy, exciting and inspiring week it has been across the school! There has been a real buzz in our classrooms and corridors as pupils have been busy campaigning and preparing for this year’s school elections. Our Year 6 pupils have been campaigning to become this year’s House Captains , taking on the challenge of convincing their fellow pupils why they would make fantastic leaders and role models for their houses. Across the rest of the school, pupils have also been putting themselves forward to become our new School Councillors, Eco Warriors and myHappymind Happiness Heroes , all of which are incredibly important roles within our school community. The children have worked extremely hard preparing their speeches, presentations and campaign ideas , and we have been so impressed by the confidence, creativity and enthusiasm they have shown. Standing up in front of others and sharing your ideas takes a great deal of courage, and we would like to say a huge well done to every pupil who has put themselves forward and taken part so passionately. Voting has been underway in the school library today, giving pupils the opportunity to have their say and choose the children they feel will best represent them. It has been wonderful to see our pupils engaging so enthusiastically with the process and understanding the importance of having a voice within their school community. We are very proud of everyone who has taken part, and whatever the final result, each and every candidate should feel incredibly proud of what they have achieved. We are now eagerly awaiting the results and look forward to introducing our new House Captains, School Councillors, Eco Warriors and Happiness Heroes next week!

Important News and Reminders Year 4 Parent/Carer Information Meeting We would like to invite all Year 4 parents and carers to an information meeting on Tuesday 7th October at 3:30 p.m. in the Pumas Classroom . During the meeting, we will share information about next year's Grafham Water Residential Visit , including details about the activities, accommodation, costs and arrangements . There will also be an opportunity for parents and carers to ask any questions they may have about the residential. We will also provide information about the Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) , which all Year 4 pupils complete during the Summer Term. We will explain how the check works, why it is important, and share some practical ways you can support your child at home to develop their confidence and fluency with their times tables. We hope you will be able to join us and look forward to seeing you there! YDP Wraparound Provision: Booking Reminder A reminder to parents and carers wishing to book their child into the wraparound provision provided by YDP that all bookings must be made directly through the YDP booking platform, which can be found HERE . Please note that YDP is a separate provider , and therefore the school office is unable to make or manage bookings on behalf of families . Places are limited, so we strongly encourage families to book as far in advance as possible to avoid disappointment. If you need to make a same-day booking , this must be completed through the YDP booking platform by 1.00pm at the latest . We are also pleased to share that YDP has informed us that they will be taking on an additional member of staff on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays , which will increase capacity and allow more spaces to become available on these days Thank you for your cooperation and for ensuring all bookings are made directly with YDP. Uniform Donations We are very grateful for all the uniform donations we receive. However, we kindly ask that parents and carers do not bring any more uniform donations into school at this time, as we currently have plenty of stock. The only items we are still able to accept are clean, good-condition uniform with the school logo , specifically: Jumpers and cardigans PE tops Hoodies Thank you for your understanding and continued support. Late Arrivals to School - Update To help us maintain confidentiality and ensure accurate records, we are introducing a new procedure for children arriving late to school. From now on, parents and carers who bring their child to school after the registration period will be asked to complete a Lateness Form at the school office, providing the reason for the late arrival. This change has been introduced for two important reasons: Confidentiality – At busy times, there may be other parents, visitors or professionals waiting in the reception area. Completing a form allows families to share information privately rather than discussing personal circumstances openly. Safeguarding and Attendance Monitoring – Keeping accurate records of reasons for lateness helps us monitor attendance patterns, identify any concerns, and provide support where persistent lateness may be affecting a child's education. We appreciate your support and cooperation in helping us ensure that all children arrive at school on time and that our attendance records remain accurate and up to date. Clubs Reminder Just to confirm that on days when children attend an after-school sports club, they are very welcome to come to school wearing their approved PE kit. To help keep children warm and comfortable during the school day, a school jumper or cardigan (which forms part of the school uniform) may be worn over their PE kit. Every Monday, children enjoying a cooked school meal have the chance to discover a Lucky Plate! There is one Lucky Plate winner in Early Years, one in KS1, and one in KS2 each week. Winners will find a Lucky Plate sticker underneath their dinner plate during lunchtime. Each lucky winner will receive a small prize , and their name will also be entered into our end-of-year prize draw, where they will have the chance to win an even bigger prize in July! We hope this adds a little extra excitement to Monday lunchtimes. Good luck everyone, and keep an eye out for those Lucky Plate stickers! Inhalers in School If your child requires an inhaler whilst at school, please ensure that it is brought to the school office as soon as possible. To help us keep our records accurate and ensure we can safely administer medication when needed, parents and carers are also asked to complete an updated Medication Administration Form. Having an in-date inhaler and current medical information available is essential for keeping all children safe and well during the school day. If you have any questions, please contact the school office who will be happy to help. Reporting Absences and Illness A gentle reminder to all parents and carers that if your child is absent from school due to illness or any other reason, please notify the school office directly rather than (or as well as) informing your child's class teacher. This helps us to ensure that all absences are recorded accurately and that we know your child is safe. Messages sent to class teachers may not always be seen or relayed promptly, particularly during teaching time. You can contact the school office by telephone, email, or using the school's usual absence reporting system. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain accurate attendance records and safeguard our pupils.

Attendance Update for September As we begin the new academic year, we are introducing a few updates to our attendance procedures to support pupils' success and celebrate excellent attendance. Medical appointments will continue to be authorised only when appointment confirmation is provided to the school office. Optician appointments will no longer be authorised from September, as these can usually be arranged outside school hours. We are also delighted to launch our Termly Attendance Pizza Parties (TAPP). Pupils achieving 98% attendance or above each term will be invited to a special pizza party during the final week of term and will receive a raffle ticket for the chance to win a £50 Amazon voucher. At Warboys Primary Academy, we know that good attendance plays a vital role in children's academic achievement, social development and wellbeing. Thank you for your continued support in helping your child attend school regularly and arrive on time, giving them the very best opportunity to thrive. Term-time leave We appreciate that unexpected events can happen, and we’re always here to support families where possible. However, Cambridgeshire County Council and the Department for Education require schools to authorise leave only in exceptional circumstances —meaning rare, unavoidable events. Routine family holidays or planned trips unfortunately do not meet this threshold. Secondary 2027 Transition

At our school, we are proud to support our Young Carers and recognise the important role they play within their families. We work closely with Centre 33 to provide external support, while internally we offer fortnightly Young Carers sessions where children can come together to chat, share experiences, take part in activities, and relax in a supportive environment. Led by Miss Coles and Mrs Flisher, with support from Mr Bostock, these sessions help ensure our Young Carers feel valued, understood, and supported. We are also committed to raising awareness across the school community and celebrating the dedication, resilience, and compassion shown by our Young Carers every day. Please follow the link below to flag any child that you may deem to be a Young Carer. A Young Carer is a child young person who helps to look after a family member who may have an illness, disability, mental health difficulty, or who may need extra support for another reason. This care can include practical tasks, emotional support, or helping siblings, and it may take place before or after the school day. We recognise that these responsibilities can sometimes impact a child’s wellbeing, learning, and emotional needs. All conversations and responses will be treated sensitively and in confidence. A Word from the P.T.F.A 💛 Could you help keep our PTFA going? Our PTFA is a wonderful part of the Warboys Primary Academy community, helping to bring exciting events and opportunities to our children while raising much-needed funds for the school.However, we urgently need more parents and carers to get involved. Following several of our valued committee members stepping down as their children finished at the school last year, we are now facing a very real challenge. We are losing our Treasurer, along with other experienced members, and without enough people willing to step forward, we may have no choice but to fold the PTFA. We really don't want that to happen. You might think you need lots of free time or previous experience to join the PTFA, you don't! We need people who can help in whatever way they can. That could mean helping at an event, coming along with ideas, taking on a committee role, helping with fundraising, or simply lending a hand occasionally. Every person who gets involved makes the workload lighter for everyone else — and helps us continue providing those extra experiences and opportunities for our children. 📅 PTFA AGM Tuesday 13th October at 6pm: Warboys Primary Academy Please come along, even if you're unsure how you could help.
